Bullpane vs Taskforce.sh

Checked against taskforce.sh and its docs on 27 September 2026 · Other comparisons: bull-board · QueueDash

Taskforce.sh is the hosted BullMQ dashboard made by the team behind BullMQ itself. It is polished, it gets new BullMQ features first, and it monitors as well as displays. Bullpane is the self-hosted option: one container in your network, job data that never leaves it, a free edition with no account, and Pro priced per installation instead of per connection.

Short answer. Pick Taskforce if a hosted service is fine for your data, you have one Redis and want the lowest monthly price, or you need PagerDuty and email alerts today. Pick Bullpane if job payloads must not leave your network, you have several Redis connections, or you want roles, SSO and an audit log in your own database without a sales call.

Where Taskforce is the better choice

Where Bullpane is the better choice

Your job data never leaves your network

The hosted Taskforce reaches your queues in one of two ways. Either its servers connect to your Redis directly, from a published IP, which means your Redis accepts connections from the internet and your Redis password is stored on their side. Or you run taskforce-connector, which opens a WebSocket from your network to api.taskforce.sh and proxies Redis traffic through it. Taskforce says it never stores payloads; they still transit its servers. For job data holding personal, financial or health data, that is a vendor-review conversation. Bullpane runs next to your workers and talks to Redis over your private network. No job data goes out and there is no telemetry; the free edition makes no outbound calls at all, and Pro only renews its license with api.bullpane.com (offline keys exist for air-gapped installs).

Taskforce does sell an on-premises edition. Its price is not published, and it needs PostgreSQL, Redis 7+, Auth0 and Mailgun to run. Bullpane needs nothing else: SQLite is built in, MySQL is optional.

Priced per installation, not per connection

Every Redis you want to see (production, staging, each region, each prefix) is a connection. On Taskforce, two to five of them means Growing at USD 49.95/month; up to fifteen, Enterprise at USD 99.95. Bullpane Pro is USD 39/month or USD 390/year for one installation with unlimited connections and unlimited users. And the free edition, with every read and every job action, costs nothing and has no trial clock.

The team features in one plan

Bullpane Pro includes user accounts with admin/operator/viewer roles enforced on every API call, SSO over OIDC and SAML 2.0 that your own admin configures in the UI, and an append-only audit log of who retried, drained, paused or obliterated what, from which IP, stored in your database and exportable to CSV. On Taskforce, custom roles start at the Growing plan; SSO and a user audit log are not listed on its pricing page.

Source you can read

Bullpane's code is public: the free edition is MIT and the Pro features are source-available. You can read every Redis command it sends before you point it at production, and the free edition keeps working if the company behind it stops. Its read rules (no KEYS, one Lua round trip per read, payloads truncated inside Redis) are documented and load-tested in STRESS-TEST.md.

Try it on your own queues

Start Bullpane next to your workers with BULLPANE_READ_ONLY=true and point it at the same Redis Taskforce already watches. They do not interfere.
